Dear fellow weary ones... Maybe you're reeling from loss and not sure how much more you can survive. Maybe you're overwhelmed, exhausted, and starved for reprieve. Maybe you're slowly making your way through the dark, or an endless season of silence. Maybe you fear God isn't near or listening.
Fear not. Hold on. Look up. Take heart.
One long-ago, far-away night holds the key for us even now. 400 years of darkness, confusion, silence and disconnection from God was pierced by the holy, breathless cry of the tiny King of Kings. Perfection and the Word made flesh, born into a world of dark and dirt and wind and sky He Himself had created.
Our separation with God forever
broken.
Bridged.
Emmanuel, God with us. Heaven touching earth. Mankind no longer searching for God... He walked amongst us. Now face to face with Love Embodied, the humblest of servants and Prince of Peace, upon whose shoulders the government rests.
He who would live perfectly and heal the sick.
He, a man of suffering and sorrow so that He might identify with my pain and I with His.
He who would be crucified for the joy set before Him... you and I filling His heart and mind.
He who tore the veil, inviting us into the Holy of Holies forevermore.
He of whom Mary Magdalene would first proclaim the words: "He is risen!"
He who made a way out of the grave for all who might call Him Savior.
He who baptizes in the Holy Spirit so that we may never be alone again.
He who will wipe away our tears someday.
Jesus, the fulfillment of the promises of old.
Jesus, the fullness of God in flesh and blood and suffering and deepest Love.
Jesus, the answer for our hopes and longings and desperation and pain.
Breathe in. Be still. Take hold of the peace He offers, now and forevermore.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
-Isaiah 9:6-7
