Pentecost 🕊️
“And the church of Christ was born
Then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this gospel truth of old
Shall not kneel, shall not faint!”
-King of Kings, Maverick City Music
Happy Pentecost 🔥🤍 🕊️ Today, we celebrate the beginning of the Church Age, with the Holy Spirit being poured out in the Upper Room and then the 3,000, and from there, upon millions of sons and daughters to the ends of the earth and throughout history, leading all the way to us today 🤍
I find Pentecost Sunday sweeter every year. This morning as I was worshipping and getting ready for church, I was overcome with His presence and gratitude I can't put into words for this most precious gift, after my salvation. I was overcome with joy that God doesn't discriminate; this gift is available to everyone, men, women, young, old, people of every tribe and nation. The Holy Spirit is an equalizer and fills all who seek with their whole hearts, those who are hungry and thirsty and surrendered.
You can't read a page of my life story without seeing the fingerprints of the Holy Spirit; it simply doesn't make sense without Him. He has made the impossible real, saved me from what looked final, moved in ways that can't be explained otherwise, given me strength to survive what I thought would kill me, peace that didn't make sense in the midst of terror, joy that couldn't be destroyed by sorrow, created within me an inner unconquerableness of Spirit, and empowered me to minister to others in ways I never could on my own.
Walking with the Spirit is the most wild, beautiful, comforting, challenging, surprising, insanely fun privilege; I can't put it into words. He hems me in, behind and before. He surrounds me with bravery and peace. He has never left me, and He never will. May my heart always be ablaze with His Holy fire 🤍 🕊️
"May I never lose the wonder of your Presence, may I always stand in awe of who You are! The beauty and the gift of Your friendship is unlike anything I've ever known!" -Fall Like Rain
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit. -Joel 2:28-29
“When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. -Acts 2:1-4 ESV
“Pentecost teaches us that transformation arrives not as certainty, but as holy wind disrupting everything we thought we controlled.” ~ Kallistos Ware
And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. - Acts 4:31
